Philippe Lamy
Born october 7th 1953 in Casablanca.
Studies Art in l'Ecole Nationale de Beaux Arts de Toulouse.
Diplôme National des Beaux-Arts en 1978. Assistant Master and Researcher at l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Toulouse, Where he teaches Art.
Philippe Lamy is an artist and musician.
As a painter, he has had many exhibitions in France and various European countries. His works are to be found in public and private collections. Painting for him requires great concentration, and must reveal the patterens needed to undersatnd it.
His paintings form series tahat can be arranged in accordance with the place where they are exhibited. He experiments with colours, materials and textures ; while at the same time introducing the parameters of time and gravity. His Art involves the building up to strata, layer by layer over a long period of time, until he obtains the desired density. Music and painting resonate together, with the same care given to textures, the same attention to events and with that desure to achieve a ceratin density. Sounds from all kind of sources (recordings, voices, instrumentals sounds, noises,) are combined to produce an intense experience of immersion.
He collaborates with many others artists, such as : Sandrine Deumier, Julien Marchal (as « Piano augmenté » entity, Pleq (Bartosz Dziadosz), Masaki Kubo, James Mc Dougall, Darius Ciuta and Marie e le Rose.
