Soheil Soheili (b.1983) is a Tehran-based director, producer, researcher writer and a comedian. Having roots in a cultural family, he started learning music from his father at an early age. By the turn of the new century, he started playing with some jam bands
and became acquainted with a community of musicians and indie groups which turned to be a bit far-fetched in that geography by the time. Now after a decade of activity he has some experiences in the both fields of studio recording and live-music sounding.
Beyond playing guitars and bass he have expanded his experiences into a wider number of art forms, like foley design, live digital performances and sound design or the stage. As a thinker and a planner, his sonic ideas revolve around the solutions and the means of provision for noise pollution, acoustic planning in the form of noise
reduction strategies, conceptual sound installations and providing a categorized archive of sounds. As a background artist and a laidback producer, he is best known for his unreleased vault and the sound design projects for other artists. During a bachelor course on English literature - with a focus on criticism - he became more and more interested into the major subjects like philosophy and the history in the academic terms of it which helps him a lot to practice becoming a specialized translator, as he is now working as a freelance artist and translator for academic journals and individuals along with providing technical support for a number of annual festivals with live venues and technician for the art galleries; His very recent collaborative
sets include algorithms for coding visuals along with the sound performances and a collaborative field recording project with architectural, environmental concerns “Tehranscapes”.
Soheil prioritizes directing over acting - regardless of a few cameo appearances in documentary films and a small featured film, he is considered absent to the mainstream media. some portions of his video arts and sound installations have been exhibited in the fifth and sixth round of Limited Access Festival, and the TADAEX 05; he have also taken part in a number of painting exhibitions and his taste varies from Surrealist painting and Modern jazz music to Postmodern literature and cinema.
