( DJ RWM )
Ranjii William Maigur ( born 1972, NYC, NY USA ) has a long and impressive history of involvement in Electronic Music that began in the late 80’s. Starting out as a DJ who was influenced by early HipHop innovators such as DJ Kool Herc and DJ Tony Tone. With the
original BBoy approach it was not uncommon for DJ’s of that era to take an interest in other forms of music and use those records for art of Turntablism, which he did and eventually led to his discovery of Industrial Music, mostly attributed to his starting to collect the vinyl 12” records of the seminal Chicago based label Wax Trax! and listening to bands such as Throbbing Gristle / Psychic TV, Skinny Puppy and Front 242, to name just a few.
It has only been within the last 2 years that RWM has been seriously inspired to create music. The productions are mostly Modular ( Eurorack and Buchula ) system based sampling with most of the production taking place inside programs such as Logic, Ableton
and Reaktor. He also plans to continue working towards producing an album in the near future and is also planning on investigating closely Balinese Gamelan in order to apply the specific techniques used by traditionalist to Electronic Music production. He is also currently authoring his first ScienceFiction novel and studying different Occult traditions of the world and practicing Dhyana meditation and Qigong.
