from Unexplained Sounds Group - 2nd Annual Report, released December 8, 2016
I have been making music in various guises and bands since the early 90's. I played drums in Huge Baby from 1993 to 2005 and we toured Europe with the likes of Napalm Death and AC/DC. Since then I am now playing with the bands Crumbling Ghost, NEWTS, Smallgang and Slowgun among others (all have FB pages). I have also been experimenting with electronic sounds since the early 90's, amassing a large body of work, some of which I began to release through my own micro label (Minimal Resource Manipulation) in 2005. I am now on my 29th release, the vast majority being my own work, with a handful of albums by other artists. My main guises are Platform (electronica/beats), Matthew Atkins (sound art/ambience) and Seven Hour Germ (noise). I have been fascinated by sound and it's malleable properties since I was a kid and the MRM project is a pursual of this, taking inspiration from many different fields of experimental music and art. I guess the ultimate aim is to transport the listener to somewhere unexpected and interesting, and for them to want to return there.
