Meczup is the unusual performer of an unusual instrument. He not only uses theremin for composition, but also utilizes the signals produced through theremin and makes them polyphonic using loop pedals; changing the emphasis put on them via the effects added to the multichanneled melodies that are the byproducts of the said process. His music proves incompliant against the conservatory state of mind which deems music as a “product of harmony”; it harbours anarchist frequency jumps, a discipline that cannot be tamed with metronom rhythms, an impalpable velvet touch...Therefore, what he tries to do is reach beyond the sounds and frequencies that have commonly been imposed on us for hundreds of years. He turns theremin, which is a very suitable instrument for the creation of microtonal melodies hence its physical properties, into a polyphonic entity through the live composition system he utilizes on stage. Today, people may not be used to this microtonal eternity of harmony, but after several decades, a mass awakening leading the interrupted evolution of sound to a finalization; or at least a beginnning for categorization through the efforts of Meczup and people like him might be possible.
