Wolfgang Kirchheim was born in Bad Bergzabern, a small town in the Palatinate wine region, in 1983. Being trained in classical instrumental music during childhood and youth, he developed an inclination for improvisation and started composing with pen and paper. Eventually his interest shifted to electronic music production.
In early 2004 he co-founded ‘Glaswald’, a jam collective focussing on psychedelic free-form ambient improvisation. It would become the starting point for all further musical explorations. He began to collaborate with members of the Schoenermusic netlabel in 2005 and since then has contributed to the development of the mutual acousmatic composing style ‘Tsunami’, which deals with the decontextualization and mythologization of TV or video game samples.
With or without such media content, most of Kirchheim’s work has a narrative streak, providing the listener with a musical frame for imagination and reflection, thereby concentrating the mind and bringing it back to itself.

NSN

"Noise is Silence is Noise, abrv. N(S)N, is the process of fail testing the scientific experiment. Deeply inspired by Dadasim, Bauhaus and the early Noise Artists among the Futurists, especially Luigi Russolo, N(S)N embraces the idea of the intellectual destructivism of these movements to destroy the evils that plague modern music, like audience expectancy, beats, musical harmony, reproducible performances, elitism. Among his four weapons are such elements as collapsing repetitions, full frequency range, drastic visuals and unforeseen turns. His own musical roots with electronic music lay with the C-64 and Amiga, which completely replaced his classic guitar training. He was tutor at the Studio of Electronic Music at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany and is now a professional journalist for Germany's biggest independent online music gear-magazine, Amazona.de. His Noise career started late in 2009 in Tokyo - where he lives today - by invitation of DJ hitch, known for his clashing mixing-style of traditional Japanese songs and hard electronica. They have been partners in crime ever since. In Germany N(S)N also did some solo gigs but prefers to collaborate with other artists. The performances with Wolfgang Kirchheim, one founder of the Psychedelic Krautrock Spacepunk-Band Glaswald, have proven to be especially fruitful."
