from New frontiers of electronic music, released June 30, 2017
Jeremy Santiago-Horseman is a sound and visual artist working in a variety media including traditional composition, field recordings, sampling, noise, and modular synthesizers. Deeply inspired by 20th century spatial composition, spectral music, and Musique Concrète, along with Science fictional and folkloric narratives, Santiago-Horseman combines traditional instrumentation with various electronic processes. He creates sound-worlds which are recorded with microphone experimentation, then repetitively recycled, rerecorded and re-sculpted through a process of lo-fi vinyl record pressing, magnetic tape, and and digital manipulations. Santiago-Horseman’s compositions reach for the spectrum of noise while focusing on sensitive timbrical and spatial qualities, contrasting transparency with opacity, and crossing thresholds of listenability. His work has been included in notable venues in New York, Los Angeles, and Moscow, Russia. Santiago-Horseman presently lives and works in Philadelphia, USA.
